The Police Service commemorated its AIDS Day under the theme “Police Let Us End AIDS Together” in an event held at the Matsapha Police Academy on Wednesday.

Speaking during the event, Senior Deputy National Commissioner Lydia Dlamini who was representing the National Commissioner revealed that the commemoration is a way of ensuring that police officers play an active role in the fight against HIV/AIDS. She stated that the international theme “Ending AIDS Together” was re-crafted for relevance to the Police working environment and further applauded stakeholders in the Health Sector for gracing the event.

Dlamini encouraged police officers to test for HIV/AIDS and to adopt healthy lifestyles which will enhance personal fitness and reduce exposure to the risks normally associated with the policing profession. She stated that the Police leadership is committed to supporting health and wellness programmes aimed at boosting personnel well-being for improved service delivery.
